Favorite Reference Sites
I do a lot of research about websites and market conditions. This is a list of my favorite “go-to” sites for research and what you will find there:
- Mashable - Social networking starting place and source of cool info
- Addictomatic – Want to know who’s talking about what where – find out fast
- Quantcast – plug in a web address and get a ton of demographic and other data about the site, its competitors, top search keywords that have taken people to the site….
- Hitwise – information about trends – top 20 sites, top 10 industry search terms, top 10 fast moving search terms
- Nielsen//NetRatings – weekly and monthly benchmarking information, most popular sites from home and work, and web usage data, leading advertisers, more…..
- Compete.com – compare sites to each other for visitors, engagement, growth.
- MarketingCharts – top 10 of all kinds of sites, sports, tv shows, print media, politics, on and on….
- Google Insights for Search – just discovered this reading Avinash’s new post – very cool – out of curiosity, I pitted “search optimization”, “search marketing”, “accessibility”, and “web analytics” against each other – the result was surprising.
- Web Analytics Industry Benchmarks – numbers from 10,000 feet published monthly by Coremetrics
- Intenet World Stats – demographics from around the world
